Mission
Teaching Professional Development Initiatives
Sathya Educare Foundation sponsored tuition fees for high quality and advanced professional development by partnering with New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning, NJCTL, a nonprofit founded in 2007 and a duly authorized NJ Institution of Higher Education.
Sathya alongside NJCTL offers a limited number of competitive scholarships for NJ teachers to earn a new STEM subject endorsement. Teachers completing a program in physics, chemistry, mathematics or computer science also receive a Master of Science in Teaching and Learning.
The Sathya Educare Foundation awarded the Dover Schools a grant to provide the staff with professional development supporting instruction for emergent bilinguals. Dover Union Free School District is located in Dutchess County, NY. The district has a growing population of English Language Learners and is a major “hub” of community events and student-centered activities.
This professional development program, The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) , included books, resources, and virtual support. SIOP is a research-based, instructional model that is highly effective in addressing the academic needs of English learners. The protocol provided a framework for teachers as they design and deliver lessons that make content comprehensible.
This initiative will impact all Dover School stakeholders including classroom teachers, students, and respective families.
